About Haiti Humanitarian Fund

The Haiti Humanitarian Fund is a non-profit organization based out of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Conyers, GA. It is an extension of the Parish Twinning Program of the Americas, who’s vision is for every needy parish in Latin America and the Caribbean to be twinned with a parish in the United States or Canada. In accordance with this mission, The Haiti Humanitarian Fund provides basic humanitarian needs to our sister parish, Our Lady of the Presentation Parish of Los Palis, Haiti and its seven surrounding mission churches in the Diocese of Hinche.

Parish Twinning Program

The Program began in 1978 as “Adopt a Parish” and has evolved over the years to the present as “ The Parish Twinning Program of the Americas” (PTPA). Based on faith and solidarity, the program builds sister parish relationships. Christian organizations in the US are linked to provide much needed humanitarian assistance to communities in Haiti and other developing countries. To learn more go to https://www.parishprogram.org

PTPA at St. Pius X Catholic Church

Our PTPA birth can be credited to the initiative of Fr. John Kieran and lay persons Marcie Parrish and Bernadette Destin. Thanks to the hard work of these three, Haiti Humanitarian Fund was started at St. Pius X Catholic Church in 1998. The church’s former Pastor John Kieran provided spiritual guidance and the needed initial support. The Haiti Humanitarian Fund’s mission is attuned with PTPA’s mission to serve those in need.

Our Mission

We will serve those in need by:

§  Facilitating visits and communication with St Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers and Our Lady of the Presentation Church in Los Palis, Haiti;

§  Encouraging prayerful solidarity, empowering our sisters and brothers in Los Palis;

§  Providing resources and support in religious, educational, medical and economic areas;

§  Promoting awareness among Catholics of the social injustices and economic inequality present in Haiti and our Gospel call to respond.
