Health Care

Every year, we successfully complete the medical mission to Los Palis with many volunteers (between 10 and  21) including doctors, physician assistants, nurses, medical students, nutritionists, food production specialists, and others. Usually more than 1,000 patients are treated and receive free medications, a couple of pounds of beans, and a couple of pounds of rice. We provide the health care during our medical mission in the Parish Hall of Our Lady of the Presentation Church.

To improve health care access in the community, we opened a clinic in a rented house. The HHF helped hire a Haitian doctor, Dr. Alex Aristile, who was trained in Cuba and is from Los Palis. In addition, the clinic staff has a nurse assistant, a medical helper, a handyman and housekeeper. We are raising funds to sustain this effort at the level of close to $ 20,000/year. The Haitian Government pays part of Dr. Alex’s salary.

The Haitian government, through its Ministry of Health, received funding from an international organization for the construction of a clinic. A new clinic is now built at Tabacale, 5 kilometers from the Church. Under the leadership of Pastor Elizier and Dr. Alex, our next Medical Mission will take place in the new clinic. HHF contributed to the move from the old clinic near the church. With the assistance from Word Vision International, improvement was provided to the new place: deep well, water pump, gutters, electricity from a solar panel and electricity of Haiti (EDH).
